My name is Jennifer Davis and I am honored to be an instructor at Play Deep Academy where I can pass along my knowledge of over 15 years of experience playing competitive softball. I am originally from southern California and started playing in Whittier Girls Softball League before transitioning into travel ball in Orange County where I had the privilege of playing on some of the best teams in the nation. We won ASA Nationals 3 times (1998 with 12-U Invasion, 2000 with 14-U California Cruisers, and 2002 with 16-U OC Batbusters). I was a power hitting pitcher and infielder throughout my travel ball career.

I also played as a 4-year Varsity starter at California High School in Whittier, CA where I earned the following accolades:

  • Second Team All-American 2003
  • Four-Time First Team All-Del Rio League selection
  • Undefeated in league play as a junior and senior
  • Del Rio League Most Valuable Player honors in 2000, 2001, 2002
  • Del Rio League Pitcher of the Year 2001
  • First Team All-Area 2001, 2002, 2003
  • Area Player of the Year 2002, 2003
  • First Team All-CIF DII 2002, 2003

Subsequent to high school and travel ball, I played Division I softball at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) on a full-ride scholarship, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics. Some of my softball honors while at UCSB include:

  • Big West Pitcher of the Year 2007
  • All-Big West First Team 2007
  • Big West All-Time Career Strikeout Record (until 2017)
  • Big West Pitcher of the Week (8 times)
  • All-Big West Second Team 2005, 2006
  • All-Big West Honorable Mention 2004

After graduating from college, I had the incredible opportunity to play professionally in Caserta, Italy as part of the Italian Professional League. Our team won the 2009 Italian Softball Championship for the first time in program history.

Since wrapping up my playing career, I have stayed connected to the game I love by giving lessons and watching games whenever I can. When I’m not giving lessons, I run a creative goods and services company, HennMade LLC, specializing in handmade macrame fiber art (e.g., wall hangings, plant hangers, hat holders). I am a new mom to my almost one year old, Owen, and I have two step kids, Caleb (12) and Cayden (10). In our free time, we enjoy getting outdoors to fish, hike, and explore our new home state of Idaho.
